To make the Petrol Wood Chipper TFG55the most well-rounded in its class, our engineers balanced branch size capacity and in-feed rate while maintaining smooth, consistent feeding.

After two years of R&D, extensive prototyping, and in-field testing, we developed a gravity-assist in-feed system that combines a steep-angled chute with a high-torque, slow-speed three-bladed flywheel. Paired with patented Twin Flywheel technology, it ensures even leafy or lightweight material is processed efficiently.

Powered by a 14 HP Kohler Command PRO engine with electric start, the Petrol Wood Chipper TFG55 effortlessly chips branches up to 3 inches in diameter. Its 5″ x 5″ (13 cm x 13 cm) in-feed opening can handle hardwood, bent branches, Y-sections, or bundles of smaller material consistently, making it perfect for Australian properties.

Patented Twin Flywheel Technology

Chipping and throwing are the two main functions of a wood chipper. By using two flywheels, we’ve been able to optimise the speed of each function. The chipping flywheel spins at just over 700 RPM, allowing larger branches to be processed quickly with the 14 HP engine. The secondary flywheel spins at over 2600 RPM, sending material out faster and farther. This also boosts airflow, helping lightweight, wet, leafy, or coniferous material move smoothly through the chip stream and reducing the risk of blockages.

Gravity-Assist Infeed System

The Petrol Wood Chipper TFG55 features a gravity-assist infeed system that combines a steep chute angle with a 3-blade twin flywheel design. This creates a smooth, steady, and predictable feed, far superior to gravity alone. The natural draw of material ensures safer, more consistent operation, while the system optimises infeed speed for maximum efficiency and makes the best use of your tractor’s horsepower.

Side-Hinged Infeed Chute

The Petrol Wood Chipper TFG55 features a side-hinged infeed chute secured with a single latch and safety catch. The latch easily releases to swing the chute wide open, allowing quick access to inspect the blades, adjust the bed plate, and carry out maintenance with ease.

Reliable Power Source

A reliable 14 HP Kohler Command PRO electric start engine powers the Petrol TFG55. The engine features a slanted cylinder design with a cast-iron cylinder bore and overhead valve for easy access. Its Quad-Clean 4-stage air filtration system ensures only clean air enters the engine, maximising power and longevity. A 12 V battery is required for electric start and is not included.

Easy-Access Clamshell Design

The Petrol Wood Chipper TFG55 features a practical clamshell design secured by a single latch with a safety catch. When opened, the clamshell rests securely on the tyre, giving full access to the flywheel and chipping blades for fast and easy maintenance.

Adjustable Axel System

The axle system is fully adjustable to suit transport and storage needs. In its most compact setting, it measures just 84 cm (33”), making it easy to manoeuvre around the yard and ideal for storage. It can also be extended to 94 cm (37”) or 104 cm (41”) for greater stability when towing, providing extra support and balance behind your vehicle.

Towing Assemblies Included

The Petrol Wood Chipper TFG55 features a galvanized front base leg that can be quickly removed and replaced with the included tow hitch assembly. This setup comes with a tow bar and a 5 cm (2″) ball coupler, making it compatible with a variety of towing vehicles. Upper and lower plates are also included, allowing easy conversion to a pin-style hitch—perfect for connecting the chipper to most riding lawnmowers.

Rotatable Discharge Chute

The Petrol Wood Chipper TFG55 features a discharge chute that rotates 360° in 90-degree increments, letting you direct wood chips exactly where you need them—left, right, forward, or backward. An adjustable chip deflector at the end of the chute allows you to place chips close to the machine or farther away, giving you complete control over your chipping operation.

Reversible Chipper Blades

The Petrol Wood Chipper TFG55 uses three high-quality hardened steel reversible chipper blades, giving two cutting edges per blade for extended life. The blades are secured to the flywheel with three countersunk M8 bolts. Working with an adjustable stationary bed plate at the base of the infeed chute, the blades create a precise shearing action, allowing you to set the optimal gap for efficient and consistent chipping.

Tapered Infeed Chute

The TFG55 GAS is built tough for Aussie conditions. It features a large 69 cm x 43 cm (27 x 17″) infeed opening, reinforced with a solid 2 cm (3/4″) thick steel bar around the edge, giving a smooth leading surface for branches as they feed down into the 13 cm x 13 cm (5 x 5″) infeed chute. Four handy handle positions make it easy to manoeuvre and reposition the chipper wherever it’s needed.

Belt Drive System

Two cast iron pulleys, along with a series of drive belts running off the engine, provide the two flywheel speeds. The belts are kept tight by idler wheels with sealed bearings, and spring-loaded tensioners maintain consistent pressure to maximise belt life and ensure reliable performance.

Debris Control

Clear curtains are fitted to the caution bar inside the infeed chute to help control dust and debris, keeping material moving safely and efficiently down the chute.

Multi-Ply Tyre Assembly

The Petrol Wood Chipper TFG55 rolls on two 15 x 11 multi-ply tyres mounted on 6” rims. The powder-coated rims feature packed tapered roller bearings with a zerk fitting, helping to maximise service life and ensure smooth, reliable operation.

Emergency Stop

At the top of the infeed chute, the Petrol Wood Chipper TFG55 features an emergency stop made from anodized aluminium, designed for easy activation and reset.
