WC46 4″ PTO Wood Chipper

Woodland Mills designed the WC46 PTO-driven wood chipper to cater to the needs of sub-compact tractors with 15-30hp at the PTO. With its auto hydraulic infeed system, direct drive, and a 4″ x 6″ (10 cm x 15 cm) opening, it can handle up to 4″ (10cm) diameter timber (depending on tractor hp). This wood chipper is ideal for customers in Australia and New Zealand who have sub-compact tractors that can lift up to 550lbs (250kgs) at the 3-point hitch system, feature a rear PTO that that can be set to 540rpm, and have 15-30hp at the PTO.

Capacity

The Woodland Mills WC46 PTO driven wood chipper is designed to work with sub-compact tractors having 15-30hp at the PTO. It comes with a 19” x 18.5” (48cm x 47cm) large infeed hopper opening that tapers down to a 4” x 6” (10 cm x 15 cm) opening. The infeed roller, hydraulically driven and 5.25” (13cm) in diameter, grabs the branches and feeds them through the chipper. The WC46 is capable of chipping branches as small as ¼” (6mm) diameter and as large as 4” (10 cm) diameter. To process full 4” (10cm) diameter logs, tractors with over 20 HP at the PTO are required. The WC46 is suitable for customers with sub-compact tractors having a rear PTO that rotates at 540rpm, the ability to lift 550lbs (250kgs) at the 3 point hitch system.

Hydraulic Infeed System

The WC46’s hydraulically driven 5.25” (13cm) diameter infeed roller easily pulls branches, limbs and hardwood from your forest into the chipper. Its adjustable direction and speed makes it easy to handle branches of all shapes and sizes. Belt driven from the flywheel shaft, the self-contained hydraulic system eliminates the need for manual feeding. The infeed roller down pressure can be adjusted via two large springs.

Flywheel

The 18-inch (46cm) diameter flywheel is dynamically balanced and made of solid steel, with a thickness of 3/4 inch (2cm). It runs on a 2-inch (5cm) diameter shaft and is supported by two industrial-grade flanged bearings that can be greased. The flywheel has four pockets that are CNC machined and designed to hold the reversible blades securely. Additionally, it is equipped with four large fan blade paddles that can spin at a rate exceeding 540 RPM.

Flywheel Locking Pin

The Woodland Mills WC46 wood chipper is equipped with a flywheel locking pin, which enables convenient and secure blade changes or maintenance of the flywheel. The pin fits into a set of holes, placed in a way that allows easy access to every blade with tools during reversal or replacement. With the flywheel locking pin, there’s no more need to worry about unsafe blade changes.

Chipper Blades

The WC46 wood chipper has four reversible chipper blades made of hardened steel, spaced 90 degrees apart, which can be flipped to utilize both cutting edges. The blades are secured with four countersunk M10 bolts and locking nuts on the flywheel. Thanks to the clamshell design of the flywheel housing, blade changes can be completed quickly and easily by undoing a single bolt and rotating the upper housing for full access to the flywheel and blades.

Folding Infeed Chute

The WC46 wood chipper infeed chute has a large 19” x 18.5” (48cm x 47cm) opening for feeding branches. When not in use, the chute can be folded up to reduce the chipper’s storage or transportation space.

Infeed Opening

The WC46 wood chipper flywheel housing features a 4″ x 6″ (10cm x 15cm) square opening that can accommodate branches with multiple limbs.

Discharge Chute

The discharge chute on the WC46 wood chipper can be easily rotated 360 degrees to direct wood chips in any desired direction. This feature allows for flexibility in chip placement, regardless of the chipper’s location. The chute stands at a height of 66” (1.7m) above the ground level, making it convenient to direct wood chips into the back of a truck or trailer. Additionally, the rotating deflector located at the end of the discharge chute provides further control over the location of wood chips. By pointing it straight, maximum distance can be achieved, or by angling it down, chips can be directed straight to the ground or into a trailer.
